    Adopting the euro and benefiting from full membership of the Economic and Monetary Union is a strategic goal of the Polish government's economic policy. The government aims at achieving this goal as soon as possible, however taking into account the necessary conditions of a secure euro area membership.
    Government Plenipotentiary for the Euro Adoption in Poland was appointed in January 2009. He is in charge of the process of preparations for the euro adoption. In November 2009, the organizational structure for the euro adoption was established by a Government decree in order to facilitate effective, smooth and timely preparations.

    comprises: the National Coordination Committee for the Euro Changeover, the Coordinating Council, as well as eight Working Committees and Task Groups. The Committee and the Council are chaired by the Government Plenipotentiary and co-chaired by the Plenipotentiary of the National Bank of Poland's Management Board.
    The organizational structure is responsible for developing policy measures towards maximising the benefits and opportunities of the euro adoption, while minimising the costs and threats. The technical and substantially support to the Plenipotentiary is provided by the Bureau of Government Plenipotentiary for the Euro Adoption in Poland, set up within the Ministry of Finance.
